# Custom API columns

> Pull values from your own API into a table column.

A **custom API column** calls an external API you configure and writes the response into a column on
your company or contact table — a way to bring your own data source into Enrik.

## Configure a connector

1. Go to **Settings → Custom API** and choose **Add connector**. Owners and admins manage
   connectors.
2. Set the **URL template**, the **Auth type** and any secrets the request needs.
3. Choose **Save connector** so columns can reference it.

## Add a custom API column

1. Open **Companies** or **Contacts** and choose **Columns → New custom API column**.
2. Pick your **Connector**, then set the **Response path** that selects the part of the response to
   write, for example `$.data.score`.
3. Choose **Create column**.

To fill the column, run a [workflow](https://docs.enrik.ai/workflows.md) with a **Run Custom API Column** step. Custom API
columns run **asynchronously** through a background queue, so requests for many rows are processed
reliably without blocking the table.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Connector credentials live in workspace settings and are never shown back in plaintext after you
> save them. Only configure endpoints you trust.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Beta limitations.** Custom API requests are metered and capped during the private beta, and
> outbound requests run through egress safeguards. A request that is blocked or rate-limited
> surfaces an error in the cell.
