# Define your ICP

> Describe the companies you want to find with an Ideal Customer Profile.

An **Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)** captures who you sell to — industry, size, geography, and other
traits. Discovery and qualification use your ICP to find and score companies.

## Create an ICP profile

1. Go to **ICP Profiles** and choose **New ICP Profile**.
2. Work through the wizard: describe your target companies, review the criteria, and name the
   profile.
3. Choose **Create ICP profile**. The profile appears in your ICP Profiles list.

> [!TIP]
>
> Describe your ideal customer in your own words, then choose **Parse with AI** to draft structured
> criteria from it, or **Skip / enter manually** to fill in the criteria yourself. Either way you
> can edit every criterion before you save.

## Generate a discovery brief

From an ICP profile you can choose **Generate discovery brief** to have AI draft a **discovery
brief**: a plan for finding and qualifying candidate accounts. You review it before saving, and you
can link it to a discovery job.

> [!NOTE]
>
> AI features need a model provider configured in **Settings → Providers**. An admin sets this up
> once for the workspace.

## Edit and refine

Open any ICP profile to edit it. Refining your ICP improves the relevance of the candidates that
discovery surfaces.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Beta limitations.** AI generation depends on your configured provider and is rate-limited during
> the beta. If a generation is slow or fails, retry after a moment.
