# Workflows

> Automate steps on a visual canvas.

**Workflows** let you automate sequences of actions on a visual canvas — chain together the steps you
otherwise do by hand, and run them on demand.

## Build a workflow

1. Go to **Workflows**, choose **New workflow**, name it, and choose **Create workflow**.
2. On the canvas, add a trigger, conditions and actions from the palette and connect them in order.
3. Choose **Save**, then **Publish**. A workflow can run only once a version is published.

## Run a workflow

On the workflow's page, choose **Run** and enter the IDs of the records to run it on. Runs are
processed **asynchronously** in the background; open **Runs** to track each run's status and
results.

>
> **Beta limitations.** Workflow runs are metered and capped during the private beta. The set of
> available actions and trigger types is expanding — event triggers and a few node types are not yet
> supported and are disabled in the palette.
